freebie - 7 old, vintage .jpg Book Pages - royalty free -

I took to the scanner today and scanned in some of my favourite background pages
that I made or collected from old books.

Two pages are gessoed up, ready to use;  one is a page out of an old book and has latin writing on it; two are out of an old book and have some original notations on them, and one I don't remember where I got from but I aged and distressed it a bit.

I hope these will give you some joy and inspiration :)

Net find of the week - Paper Garden Tutorials

Perfect!

You have no idea how excited I am about finding these paper garden ideas!
As a newly choosen cat guardian I "had to" send all of my house plants into exile.
It's ok, I got a super sweet cat now, who needs plants, right?
Still, it looks rather plantless in our house now, a bit bare. So along comes the idea for paper gardens!
How awesome is that!!! Now all I have to do it hope my cat will not chew them apart
as soon as I place the new "plants" somewhere, maybe I should stick to the wall-mounting idea.
I looove these and will for sure be crafting paper gardens very soon :)
Hopefully you find these little crafty projects as exciting as I do, have fun planting! :)

Here is the paper garden that I first came across, soooo cute!!

The color scheme, the embroidery frame, the chalk paint, those little eyes peaking out from under the plants, everything about this is absolutely perfect.
A crafty salute to Sonia Poli who came up with this beautiful vertical garden.

As I don't have a die cutting machine yet (but soon, oh joy :)) I looked around the net a bit
to see if I could find any usable printouts of other ideas how to make these gardens.

Over at Honey and Fizz  Simone has a little tutorial for a cactus garden that she found Beci Orpins's book Home , she found a usable template too.

She also found another tutorial for paper succulents at Craftberry Bush

Two designers at  One Bit Wonder created cute potted plants with aluminium foil, wire and self-designed and cut out leafes.

I had real trouble finding any templaes for printing out these plants so I made some templates myself.

Net find of the week - Altered Dominos Tutorials

Over at The creative Goddess Vicki O'Dell came up with a nice tutorial on how to turn dominos
into little pieces of art by using alcohol ink and StazOn ink. Soo pretty!
I think I will make these and turn them into keychains and pendants!
Here is the tutorial.

I checked around a bit and found some nice alterations to the idea, just to get my
creative mind going..there are so many pretty things that can be done with dominos!
Time to hit my local thrift store and see if they have a bunch of them somewhere.

Here are some of the alterations to this idea that I came across:

Use alcohol ink and jewlery findings for mixed media art.

(that's what it looks like to me)

has tons and tons of brilliant ideas and tutorials on how to make alered dominos
using all kinds of ink and coloring techniques,
this site is very much worth a visit!
Here is the page about domino alteration.

Net find of the week - Topsy-Turvy crochet dolls pattern

 Topsy-Turvy crochet dolls pattern

When I was a wee little one I used to have a topsy-turvy doll,
Little Red Riding Hood I think it was, and I love it so much!
I found the idea of "now it's Red, now it's the Grandma!" so fascinating
and although I wasn't a doll-person at all I remember this one very fondly.
A while back, when I started crocheing, I remembered that doll

and have ever since been on the hunt for a crochet pattern for a topsy-turvy doll.
Finally, I have found not one, not two but three pattern for topst-turvy dolls that I like!
And they are free on top of that!
For the Ravelry Cinderella pattern you have to register to Ravelry,
which is a good idea anyway if you are into crocheing.
Registering is free and there are tons and tons of beautiful pattern on there!

are from the talented Anna over at Gifted Paws , they are so stinking cute!
I totally know what my next project will be in january :)
Enjoy the pattern and happy crafting :)
